01 / Challenge

The platform turns real athletic performance data into printed posters, which only works if the data arrives. Strava integration was missing or limited, so athletes could not import their routes and activities. Payment could not be completed inside the platform at all, and the journey around both had usability problems that compounded them.

02 / Approach

Strava was integrated with OAuth token authentication so an athlete connects an account once and their activity data flows in, rather than being re-entered or uploaded. Token management is part of the login flow rather than a separate setting, which is what makes the connection survive.

Stripe was added across backend and frontend together, with real-time payment status shown in the interface and automated confirmation emails after a successful transaction. A purchase that silently succeeds or silently fails is worse than one that cannot be made.

A new route visualisation theme was added alongside the existing ones, because the poster is the product and the route is the part of it the athlete recognises.

03 / Outcome

2

external services integrated

Activity data synchronises from Strava into the platform without manual steps, payment completes inside the product with status shown and a confirmation sent, and the added visualisation theme gives athletes another way to see a race they ran. The customer journey is shorter at every step that previously stalled.
